Sausalito

I lived in the Sausalito houseboat community between 1991 and 2006. I was invited to live on the S.S. Vallejo, a 100-year-old paddle-wheel ferry moored off Gate 5 Road, by Eric Gullichsen, tech pioneer and co-inventor of virtual reality with Jaron Lanier. The Vallejo was the former home of Alan Watts (philosopher), Jean Varda and Gordon Onslow Ford (surrealist artists). I established my career as a creative technologist while living on the boat — often working from my home office. I also spent a number of years helping restore the boat.
